I've got a small leak at the head of my windshield, just above the mirror. It leaks regardless of whether we're moving or it's parked. I hoped it would go away when we replaced the windshields, but no luck.

What kind of sealant should I be using?

If the windsheild has been recently done, are you sure it isn't the clearance lights?

Eric,
I would also suspect the clearance lights too. If the windshield has been replaced and sealed it should not be the source. Does the leak appear only when you use a hose and apply a weak stream of water to just the windshield gasket? Or does it appear when water is applied to the roof above the windshield? The lights are a common point of leakage. I would use any silicone sealant sparingly when trying to seal leaks. You may need to remove each running light and check the rubber gaskets on each light and then seal the hole under each light. I would suspect that the interior of the lights may be a little ruff and rusted and corroded if they have been there a long time. Don’t be surprised!

I replaced all of the roof lights with new LED lights last year, suspecting the same thing. All of the new lights were also set in new gaskets, then silicone sealed when installed. Unfortunately, the leak persists.

Eric,

The roof cap is made of 3 molded parts, the center section and 2 side sections, the joint is about where you say the leak is coming in at, about center of sun visor.
When I had the WS out I noticed that the joint finish was not good above and at the gasket area, it could let water in (I didn't want to chance it), and used a dremel tool to clean the areas and filled with epoxy then filed, sanded, and painted. I have no leaks in those areas.
I know it may mean removing the WS again, but if nothing else works, its do it right or do it again and or live with it, your choice.

Just what I did.
