Joe, I got the same message when I tried to PM you. Here is how I replied to your PM:

"Joe,

I believe the rims with the oblong hole are for tube type tires. I had an '80 Dodge dual wheel truck with that type of rims on it, originally with tubes in the tires. I got them converted to tubeless with the type of valve stem you are referring to and never had a bit of trouble with them in almost 20 years and 200,000 plus miles.

IIRC, the Chevy truck rims (Firestone 27944) that came on my coach had round holes and standard valve stems. They appeared to have been purchased new by the PO, back in about 2006ish or maybe before. They had a factory silver paint on them and were in like new condition. I traded them to the guy I got the Eagles (originally from Jim K) from to be put on a basket case coach he is trying to sell."

Here is Joe's original question that I answered above (I hope he doesn't mind):

Carl, I am on the hunt for 16" steel rims. found 3 #27944 but the valve hole are oblong. Tire guy says this takes a special valve stem with a nut on it. Do you remember if yours had this type of stem? Or are these for some other use. Thanks Joe

Matt, I had a similar problem sending a PM to another user. He had a [1] at the end of his user name. I never figured a way around the problem.

If someone needs the oblong hole valve stems, I have a bunch, NIB. I thought I would need them for the 16" rims and only a few were oblong.

Metal oblong valve stems are readily available, just not at Wal-Mart. I used a couple on my 16" wheel install.

Thanks Guys, I removed the bars around my name. Maybe that will fix it. Was not sure of the oblong holes. Tire guy was trying to steer me away from them.
