Dan,
I've decided to go for 2 100 amp hour lithium batteries ($900 each) but that will give me close to a real 200 AH capacity. Solar panels at $200 each will keep them charged daily with my projected electrical usage. A 2000 watt suitcase generator can also help. With the controllers etc hi will be a 3k bill. Mmmm..... I'll need to do it in stages. One battery to start. Itching a manny front end will be first as we need to redo the front anyway.

Peter, these old coaches are a blast to upgrade. When I started my solar setup I knew nothing and could find no one who knew how to set up an rv properly. So, I lost some time and money doing mine over. Now there is enough information out here to do it right the first time. My basic system is 300 watts on the roof and four 6 volt batteries. Of course the coach needs to be set up for minimal electricity use first. We can live comfortably never hooking up and never running a generator. Now, I can't run a/c but if we need air it is time to move to a cooler place.
Keep us posted on your setup.
You will love the one ton frontend.
Dan

Odyssey batteries, the only type used in US military vehicles...but maybe they aren't as hard on them as we are. Confused

I don't think you will be sorry. Weight alone is amazing and you can draw them down much further (80% DOD) than the lead batteries. Check them occasionally with a volt meter to make sure they stay balanced.
