Headed out about 1:30 with a goal for Shreveport, LA. VERY windy. VERY! Made it to Tyler TX instead...about 20 minutes south of I20. Saying in a little out of the way campground for the night. Shooting for Meridian, MS tomorrow and back home Friday afternoon.
What a great rally! This is my third GMCMI rally and to me the best yet. Attendance might have been a bit low because of the folks from the frozen north still being snowed in but the folks who were there were great!. LOTS of work was done on various coaches and a bunch of folks left with much better steering and better brakes. I was one of them and to those who helped make this possible, I owe you a huge debt of thanks...especially since you wouldn't take any money.
Tech sessions were first rate and full of new information. For me, Dave Lenzi's brake booster seminar was a near religious experience. For you non-religious types, that means it was really, really, REALLY impressive and full of information that we NEEDED to know. I'm very pleased to have a Lenzi Sensitized booster and centered steering on my coach. Today, in the wind and two lane roads, I was very happy to have both.
It was really great to visit with friends, meet new friends, and connect in person with some internet friends.
We aren't going to be able to make Bean Station but are going to try to make the GMCMI fall rally in Wisconsin.

It certainly was terrific rally. And Kerry isn't exaggerating about Dave's
brakes presentation. It was a real eye opener. I now know why my vac pump
comes on while sitting at a light. I now know why it's near impossible to
stop without some kind of booster. I now know that it is no longer
possible to just grab a rebuilt master cylinder off the shelf and expect it
to work correctly.
I'll expand on these when I get things caught up around here, but I'm
tellin ya, you shoulda been there!
Kerry and Caroline did a great job at moderating their "How to Make a GMC
More Liveable" session. Some very good ideas shared from the audience.

I have some notes from the livability session Billy. I'll get them to Kim when we get home.
We're just east of Meridian MS tonight in what has to be the worlds worst KOA.

Slow Pokes! I left Montgomery about 16:15 yesterday and spent the night in
Breaux Bridge, LA -- just east of Lafayette. I checked the Lafayette
campground and couldn't find a pull-through so went to the nearest Walmart.
It was in a neighborhood where I wouldn't even unlock the car doors if
there in the daytime, much less spend the night there. In Breaux Bridge
there was a Super WM in a clean commercial neighborhood with several RV's
already parked, so I stayed. The forecast bad weather was the reason I
didn't wait until today to leave, but I don't think it's happened yet.
Left there about 08:00 today and got home at about 21:00 after some stops,
including with a new GMC owner I spotted in Dothan, AL. 550+ miles is much
farther than I like to drive these days. A little COLD drizzle most of the
morning, but not too bad. The winds in TX & LA yesterday and this morning
weren't nearly as bad as in TX, MS, & AL today -- I used all of I-10
through those areas! Mobile reported 20 G 30, but it sure looked & felt
more like 30 G 40! That made the drive twice as bad as it should have been.
I'd have spent the night tonight in Pensacola with the Nicholls, but wanted
to get the GMC home for Charlie to wash it tomorrow in preparation for next
week's trip. Only to find that because of forecast, he came today! :-(
The grandsons may learn to earn their keep. :-)
At any rate, I'm home, without incident; the GMC ran great all the way.

I always stop in Breaux Bridge to and fro to San Antonio. I don't even LIKE seafood, but it's good there. Every place. I hope you stuffed.

Got home abut 1:30. Whupped. 1800 miles this trip which I know is nothing for some of you guys but it was a lot for me.
last night in the KrapgroundOfAmerica it stormed all night and we drove in the wind (still) and rain most the way home.
Coach ran fine although I still have an oil leak to find and resolve.
Great time. I hope everyone has a safe trip home.
