As summer is promised to arrive in a few months I need to think abouit replacing my broken roof-air. Looking at the different manufacturers it looks like there is a lot of good stuff out there. I'm particularly intrigued by the Atwood air conditioners.

http://www.atwoodmobile.com/air-conditioners/rv-air-conditioners.asp

My concern, though, is that these folks do not have a strong presence in the US market. That's not going to be my only decision point, because and Air Conditioner should last a good long time.

Does anyone have any thoughts about roof air?

Larry, while they've only been selling a/c for a short time, remember that
they've been in the RV accessories business for a LONG time -- the Atwood
6 g. water heater in my '76 GMC is the one that came in it.

Based on that and their ads, I'd be willing to try one -- especially with
Carrier gone.

Ken H.

Larry,

There's something funny going on here, they bill their A/C's as 16K and 18K BTU yet Camping World, AdventureRV, and Channel View RV
Supply only list 13.5K and 15K BTU?

As long as I had to lose an arm or a leg or get a new donkey hole tore anyway, I would be looking at the low profile units.

I like the low profile units, but I was high efficiency and copious BTU's more than good looks.

It is odd. They claim that their units are more efficient than the competitors but they rate them conservatively.

Huh?

Agreed A, if I wasn't able to keep the hearts pumping on my oem units I'd go there for sure. All that tall oem or dealer installed tall crap is a blight to the exterior lines of the GMC. I'm holding out on re installing my awning for the same reason. And also the fact that with the current punch list the awning ain't happenin for awhile.

The Atwood website states "16K BTU or 18K BTU equivalent", what ever that means!

I see Amazon sells this unit for $697.
