A little off topic but not much. I was working on the ceiling in the GMC when I started getting sick.
We get so many cards, letters, and other things in the mail, today an M&M's mug. What a group. Teri does not read the net here so she does not quite know what I am saying or who might be a friend that she has not met, from the GMC group. She and I started attending the conventions in Sept 06. Only missed one. Our plans are not to miss this one coming up because of GMCers who have helped make it a comfortable time for us. My brother lives in Monroe, La. So we will spend a few nights there then on over on the back roads, in our car. Most everyone knows that I help Jim K. " rake in the cash" at these conventions, and have since back in 07. Very Happy. Maybe I help him go into the hole, who knows, but he feeds us well any way.
We just want to thank all for your concerns and we so look forward to seeing everyone,,,,well, a couple of you could stay home Laughing . We plan to leave here two weeks from this coming Monday, headed for Monroe on the lonely 2 lane black tops. We bought our coach in the Austin area and will be traveling some of the same roads as we did back then.
See ya soon.

If you see a ugly white GMC pass by on I-20 near Monroe, it is I. Going to dig for diamonds on the way to International. I'll be monitoring 146.52. We may stop in Monroe on the way.
Be glad to see you.

Ok Tom. I can flip my two meter tracking radio over to 52 while we are there. I want to head down to Alexandria and across this trip, staying off the interstate. Will also be monitoring the Internet during the trip to see where our friends might be along the way. Our Eastern States members will be caravaning across there somewhere. Hoping for a fun trip.

Dan,

Don't waste too much time looking for us. Of the original eight that expressed interest, there are now two. I expect that we will be hold up somewhere on I-10 the night of the 20th. Now that we are just 2 it makes my planing real simple. The only part that is real firm now is getting in before the first Ice Cream Social.

Oh no, I hate that. Thought there would be a good crowd. Maybe the long winter has caused some to drop out. I know you will take the best route for you, but you mite save time by jumping onto I-20 and over, then down. We have found the back roads of La.and Tx. To be great traveling for gmc. Not much traffic and road surfaces are great. Will talk with you in the next few days to see what your final route is.

Dan,

The winter and health (probably a result of the brutal winter)was most of the reasons. I would appreciate any experienced guidance, but if we leave the trace at Vicksburg, where I-20 goes west, we don't get to Mount Locust.

Okay, how about less than beautiful. Plain Jane and proud of it.

Dan, I can monitor APRS freq for tone. If you transmit tone, I'll hear you. Non-tone transmissions will not be heard.

Just watch for me on the site, APRS.fi, with. WD0AFQ-1 starting 2 weeks from tomorrow morning. Our plan is to leave here then if the sleet ever stops.
