If you watch Performance TV on Velocity you might have seen any number of hucksters hawking their wares, mostly harmless and usually cool to see. Just like the good old days when JC Whitney sold chrome C Pillar filagree and “mag” hubcaps, but these guys are pretty much shills for their sponsors.

They had Norbert, a “German Engineer” with his invention that promised to increase fuel economy by up to 25%. More horsepower and get this more electrical power too! It will improve the efficiency of your air conditioning system as well. Better emissions. A trucker in Canada who drives 10,000 miles per week, 15% - 20% fuel savings by zip-tying these magic wands to the battery cable and the fuel line.

The website of this snake oil is <http://enginebooster.us>

Even as light-weight as these hosts are it was painful to see them deal with this clown and try to make believe it was serious.

Wow - imagine adding 2.5 MPG to the GMC metronome and add another 50 horsepower for free! Your headlights will be brighter too.

Oy.

It seems my AC system will blow below zero air this week! All it takes is a -3 degree outside temperature! Very Happy

Years ago when my father in law was still with us, he was a great fan of
J.C. Whitney. Ordered stuff from them several times a year. He always was
reading their outrageous claims for products that they sold. (he was a
college graduate, Willamette University,as well as a graduate of Adcocks
Diesel School in Portland) . He figured that if he ordered one of each of
all the crap they said would improve your fuel economy by 10 - 15% that he
would have to stop at gas stations to have them remove fuel from the tank.
He did order some of the stuff, and installed it as well. He was a sadly
disappointed fellow when he noticed no improvement in fuel economy or
performance. I kept my mouth shut and stood well back. He had the
temperment of a rattlesnake and could not take criticism at all. Don't miss
him much.
