Seem to never have enough 110 wall plugs anymore. So when I widened the entry door by 7 inche for Linda's wheelchair. I decided that it would be a good time to change the two plug outlet box to a quad box. And as long as I'm in the mood. Add a few more elsewhere. My problem was that I wasn't able to find a quad box that was shallow enough to fit our outside wall thickness. Came to the conclusion that I'll have to make an existing box fit. I went to Menards and found a tan fibrous quad outlet box to modify. I felt that the blue ones were too flimsy to work well. I then sawed off the back of the box to fit that outside wall thickness. Used my table saw to make the cut square. I then removed the foam insulation that's on the outside wall. Thus the outside skin of the couch would become the back of the box. That would then give me an enclosed box again. I then used some half by half by eight inch aluminum angle to attach the box to the wall. I can now plug 8 things in where I c
ould plug in 2 before. NO more power strips. Also added some boxes for cable, and 12 volt.

I ran into the same problem..couldn't find the correct boxes. I ended going
with a 'shallow' blue and had to cut the back out as you did. I cut our the
amount to be removed and then glued the back back in place at the correct
depth using 'geocel' sealant. When it all dried, I then glues the box to
the outside skin to hold it in place for the rest of my ownership.
I added at least 6 to the whole coach, including under the front flap(plug
in a battery charger) and one in the bathroom under the sink (hair dryer)
All of this is to say, " If there's a will, there's a way! "

I'm trying to figure the One Best Way to make 110 available outside the coach.  I currently lean towards fitting an outdoor box with spring covers just to the left of the door underneath facing down.  I already have wiring under the couch on that side where the water heater and water tank and jack stowage reside.

Go look at a factory option outside outlet coach with locking door cover. That would be a good place to put it I would think. Or inside the gen compartment would be easy. I don't think propane compartment would be code!

Yeah.  Just after I turn the [propane on for the fridge and stove and the valve leaks a bit in transition, I'll plug in my canopy lights.  New GMC speed record, straight up.  Methinks not.

A neat place to install additional 12v power outlets is in front of the ash tray on the passenger side. There is nothing to run into, and it is almost a straight shot through the firewall. Enough room to install two if need be.
I installed one, plus two pair of Anderson PowerPoles and power them through a fuse block from the storage battery up front.
It also looks factory, not a kludge in sight.

Bob,

I wonder if we could find these types of electrical boxes at the RV surplus stores in the Elkhart area?

I have had them on my watch list for some time and was going to ask if they are ok to use.
I really do not like the old cast metal boxes and this was the only good alternative I could find

The chances of that happening are virtually nill since the propane will settle to a lower place and well aft of the outlet. Besides, if that happens, at least you will be outside instead of trapped inside.

True dat.  However, I don't need a [power plug by that bay anyhow, I need it fairly close to the door, which on my 23' is at the front seats.  So I expect I will continue on with the idea of underneath.
