This morning I woke really missing my GMC friends more than usual. The
coach is covered in 15" of snow (more is falling), the tires are aged out,
and I removed another mouse carcass only last week. But I have committed to
myself to make Bean Station this year. No projects (at least, no planned
projects)--I want to help and watch others have fun. It seems Ken is doing
a one-ton install, and I want to see that. And I'd love to sit around and
catch up. I promise not to wire a battery backwards three days before the
trip.
I have not yet figured out how to become one of those lazy federal
employees we keep reading about (and, admittedly, I do know a few but truly
only a few). I made 40 trips last year, spending about 3/4 of my work time
on the road, helping state and local transportation agencies improve their
effectiveness. It's satisfying but exhausting, and I still have a couple
hours of administrivia every evening when traveling. And it means I'm
carrying a gubmint computer with limited access to Internet play. Thus, I
have to do stuff like this on my iPhone or iPad.
And the Gmail app is just painful.
But I still miss you guys and hopefully I'll see some of you in Tennessee.
So, has registration for Bean Station come out yet? I didn't see anything
on the Dixielanders page or in the last newsletter.

Hey Rick, just wanted to say hi, you're not alone, and things will get better. Even though we woke to snow last Saturday there is none today. The tulips and daffodils are poking up through last year's leaves, and it hasn't been below freezing here all week (though at 35 this morning it sure is close).

Rick,
It's great to hear from you; we've been missing you. And especially glad
you're coming to Bean Station. I'll be sure to save a list of 1-Ton tasks
for you! Come early if you can so we can visit more.

Hi Rick,
Good to hear from you. I miss the days when we were both very active!
I don't do much with with GMC stuff any more, I do still scan the emails
however.
You got me thinking about Bean Station, haven't been since 04.
If I can find someone who'll give me a place to crash I would probably like
to come.
Any one have an empty couch?

G'day Rick!
It is great to hear from you!
Glad to hear that you're finding your gubmint job satisfying and that you haven't been made redundant.
It would be nice if you could find one day a week to scan the GMCnet and provide your thoughts as they are ALWAYS insightful and
based on knowledge and fact.
All the best!

Rob M.

I have been wondering about your whereabouts.
Come to Bean Station if at all possible. Coach or no coach. The motel in town is cheap. All you really want is a place to sleep.
