Looking for a rechromer for my bumpers and came across Paul's Chrome Plating in NW Pennsylvania, north of Pittsburgh. Has anyone had any experience with them and the quality of the finished parts? Just looking for a reputable rechromer within driving distance of NW Ohio. Their website also states they have the capability to chrome plastic parts.
Any other suggestions of reputable rechromer vendors would be appreciated.

All of the chrome shops around here were shut down by the EPA. I have heard that there is one somewhere in the Muncie or Anderson area. I'll try to remember to ask some of the motorcycle guys at Two Wheel Tuesday next week.

Paul's has a good reputation although I have no first hand experience with them. I have had good experience with S&H Chrome in Madison, TN and Advanced Plating in Nashville. Not sure if 7 hours is considered "driving distance"!

Have you looked for replacement bumpers? Might be able to find good used ones for less than replating.

(Florence oregon) are having their bumpers
coated with bed liner - (black thick coating).
looks great
withstands the rust
and is cheap
worth a look

You could look into having them powder coated. JohnN had his powder coated in Pensacola for $200. He choose a semi-flat black. I would think a body color match would look great. I've seen ads from powder coat shops of almost chrome like colors. I will have mine powder coated when time comes for exterior finishing.

If you find one further south, holler. My guy who did the Mopar bumpers and interior parts on the 340 car closed up a while back. He told me essentially he could ship stuff out of the country and back for less than he could comply with the then new EPA rules for some of his reagents and procedures.

I was just looking for a rechromer here in Birmingham and came up empty. I was doing the mirror brackets and arms and wanted the arms re-chromed since they were in bad shape. No dice, so I just painted them black to match a few of the other accessories. I'm going to start on my bumpers soon. Found a sandblast place in town that was reasonable and he recommended powder coating them. It can "look like" chrome. He said from 25 feet at 25mph it would be unnoticeable. Any closer and you can tell, but it will still look good. Might go that route or just have them done as Gene said, with bed liner, in black. I love the chrome look, but it's just too expensive these days. $2K from a vendor, plus shipping, isn't worth it to me for the look, but I completely understand why it costs that much.

The bed liner material is also available in colors, so you
don't have to use just black.

- nickel - chrome) properly the truck liner is a viable consideration, however, there's no way it could "look great" in comparison
to a chrome bumper.

Jeremy,
I wanted to dress up the fire damaged Paterson engine I bought up in Canada and was given the name of a show quality chrome plater
in Houston. I called him up and asked what it would cost to chrome plate the valve covers and air cleaner top cover. I can't
remember what the individual prices were but the total was $260. I think the air cleaner top was $100 and the valve covers were
$160, too much money AFAIC. I then remembered that the guy that powder coated the tin work for the VW engine said he could do
"chrome" powder coating so I took those parts to him and was quoted $50 as long as he could wait until he had a batch of other parts
to be sprayed at the same time. That was fine with me. While it doesn't look as good as "real" chrome plating it does look nice and
will highlight the engine when it's in the coach.

Here's an update on rechroming my bumpers: Contacted several rechromers in PA and OH. Paul's Chrome Plating and DG Custom Chrome both produce a "show chrome" finish that was quoted between $3000-$4800 for both bumpers. Neither produce a "decorative" finish. I did contact a couple of rechromers in Toledo, OH and chose one that produces the "decorative" chrome finish using a triple plating process of nickel, nickel, chrome. His price was significantly less than the "show chrome" vendors. The shop has been in business for 30 years and chromed parts for Ford. Should have my bumpers back in a month -- stay tuned. I'll let you know how they turned out!
