Dave,
It's 395 miles to Amarillo from here near Dallas. I hope there are people closer who can help you. Every coach rescued makes life easier for every other owner.
Good luck with your search.
Best,

dservati1 wrote on Sun, 26 January 2014 13:58 | Hi all - I am new to this community, I've found a coach for sale located in North Texas which is 1400 miles away from me. In my current price range, drives, not a refurbished coach, etc. I was wondering if anyone is out that way willing to go look at the coach to assess it's condition. I've got the black list but the closest individuals are either in OK City or NM each about 4 hours away. It's located just outside Amarillo TX and several cell numbers that I've called are no longer in service so I thought I'd post here.
Suggestions are welcome.

Dave,
I am sort of surprised, that you request has not been answered. This was the best way short of Black's list that I would think of. A lot of forum readers don't read the forum all the time, so they may come along. You also might try another thread with a more specific title. Something like "Need eyes on an Amarillo coach".
If you could get the TZE and ask John Shotwell if there is history for it, that might also be a good aid.
In the future, don't post a good @ddress or phone nr. here. This site can be read by non-vested and in the past there have been spambots collecting data.

The only way I know to gauge how far it is to the nearest member is the blacklist. The closest member on the blacklist is in Lubbock (over 120 miles one way) and seems to be inactive.
I have driven 100 miles one way a couple of times to get help from Kerry Pinkerton, and over 40 miles one way to help Art Mansfield install his quad bag system, but 120 miles one way to get an idea of the condition of a GMC for a prospective buyer might be a stretch for any of us, and the distance to the nearest inclined member might be over 200 miles.
I think that is the roadblock. That and the fact that just because someone owns one doesn't mean he can evaluate one for someone else.
I can't look at one with the eyes of someone that is lazy or mechanically incompetent. They can all be restored, and anything that needs to be done other than a bad engine/transmission is "trivial" to me (there might be enough cumulative "trivial" stuff to discourage me, but that also varies from person to person). I HATE dropping or pulling an engine or transmission and rebuilding them. Everything else is "easy" to me and can be done in place with jacks and blocks with the tools I have (other than front bearings, which I would have to send to someone with the right tools and experience). So I am not "qualified" to evaluate a GMC. Many others may feel the same way for different reasons.

It seems a long way to go when there are plenty of gmc near you for sale. The costs your gonna pay for transportation back you can prob pick this one up for-
http://hudsonvalley.craigslist.org/rvs/4280496937.html
But I buy them site unseen all the time so there you go.
Get AAA RV Premier and go pick it up. Bring some tools and the Blacklist with you and you'll be fine. Some xash and a high limit credit card wouldn't hurt either

| Once you own it, fill out the online form here
http://www.gmcmhregistry.com/Online_Form.html
For privacy reasons, John should not (and as far as I know, does not) release data on a specific vehicle to anyone other than the owner.
Once you own it, and register with his database, he will send you an email with some history.
