Greetings from Southern California !!
One of my upcoming projects is to install a new Viair Air compressor...
I've noticed that some of y'all have routed the inlet air filter into the cabin.
Sure... there's cleaner and probably drier air in there - but is it really necessary ??
Is the air intake noisy ??
Anyone install it in the engine compartment and have problems ??
Thanks in advance,
Steve W

Steve,
I mounted the air intake inside only because the installation instructions said to. I also checked with Jim B, from whom I bought the Viair, and he said the same thing. I can't hear any noise from the intake when the compressor is running. Maybe it's just my hearing, but Kathy doesn't seem to notice either.
I'm guessing you could mount the air intake up high under the hood without any issues. It will depend on the model of compressor you get, but my 350-C is reasonably quiet even outside the coach. As I stated before, no excessive noise inside either.

Carl,
That's where I held the inlet for the 480C and it was LOUD.
You are correct the 480C is the largest compressor Viair makes. It has a lot more capacity than the 350C so that's the answer.

Thanks everyone !!
I purchased a 480C... saw the deal that Rob called out in an earlier thread. Thanks Rob.
It appears that its extra power causes extra noise... so it'll probably get mounted up high in the engine compartment.
No problem... all good.
