So I purchased a new fresh water pump to replace the old OEM model and the original wires are one brown and one white. The new pump of course has red and black.
So which is positive on the OEM wiring?

Thanks gang!

Test it on a battery, it should not make any difference.

I don't have a wiring diagram yet so a test light with the lead connected to the chassis and the probe in one of the terminals it will light up when you find positive. A volt meter will work, if digital if red lead hooked to ground will read negative voltage if meter hooked up to both terminals, VOM ground or black lead to chassis same as test light. New pump red will be positive.
I would guess brown is positive.

Yeah many dc motors polarity won't make a difference. But I always liked seeing red go to pos.

The 1973 wiring diagram shows white is Ground and brown goes to an off on switch. On the other side of the switch the wire color changes to Lt. green and goes to Fuse #4.

I did not check other years but there is no reason to believe it would have changed or been reversed.

12V house wiring on a '74 uses white as the negative.

(this is not the case on chassis wiring)

As old and tampered with these coaches are, I would verify polarity with a
DMM. These pumps will run either direction depending upon polarity if they
are the rotary style unit. They do not pump water very well in reverse.
