My understanding was that if you wished to continue reading where you left off in a topic, the down arrow on the left would take you there. I'm finding that clicking that down arrow skips a lot of posts.

Anyone else having this problem?

It has been like that for months. Since the last time the system needed serious effort to get it back on line.

Since that time, I have been just scrolling up to the last post read every time.

I wasn't going to complain about the inconvenience, since it is all done by volunteer dollars and labor, and the sysadmin has other things occupying his time.

Huh, I never know that arrow did that...it seems to work on iPad, but Microsoft IE8 brings me to the very last posted reply.

Seems Chrome works as desired as well....firefox anyone?

Wouldn't have thought browser mattered, because when it stopped behaving as desired, I had done nothing except wait for the site to come back on line after the server crashed. Was using IE8. Uisng IE9 on a different computer now and has the same symptom.

For this kind of function I would assume that the privacy settings of your browser might change the behavior of the button.  It's ability to track your history matters.
