Hi Steve,
We have "experimented" with who gets to climb over whom and have found little difference. Whoever gets up wakes up the other. The long step down has become even longer for us. I could not sleep on my tummy as there was no toe space given the thickness of the mattress and the way the Clasco was made so we added a 3" foam topper. That solved the toe space issue but made the step up to the bed long enough that I get to hear a lecture every time Sharon tries to navigate in our out. We are now experimenting with various fill powers and quantities of down in comforters to find the right combination that will keep her cool enough while keeping me warm enough. Looks like a queen sized low to mid fill will win out. The extra size of the queen on a double bed lets me snuggle more feathers around my old cold body and she can shed the feathers to better fit her hot body. ("hot body"? The web crawlers may think this a porno site.....grin).
Thanks to all who responded, I think I will just remove the large damper for a while and see what, if any, difference that makes.
The Clasco will now go into "hotel" mode through the Christmas season as we will take the Royale for our sojourn south into Mexico this winter. After having removed the pod, ladder and rails from the Royale we need to get the paint freshened and know a group in MX that does a credible job. We plan to meet up with a bunch of GMCers in "Tucson's beach" - aka Puerto Paenasco, MX) after dining around the SW for a while including a quick stop to see you guys.

Good read Jerry. I bet I know who does the climbing in the middle of the
night. That's a looooong step with a full bladder ">).
Take the damper off. If you can't tell the difference and it interferes
with the turning radius, what good is it? That 3.21 final drive is bullet
proof. Those things cost a fortune to build compared to the R&P units,
that's why GM discontinued them.

If your travels south bring you to AZ around the 5th week in Jan, the
Jetsetters are having a rally in Casa Grande at the Pinal County
fairgrounds on Florence Blvd and 11 mile road. Nancy and I are hosting the
rally and it is one of our best attended ones. Bon fires every night and
lots, and lots of great bluegrass music. The Reg & Flyer is up on our
website.
