Well, I went by today to check on the toad and get some pre-paint pictures. I took a closer look at the '76 parked there. It's truly in pitiful shape. Has a 1998 New York inspection sticker in the window. 6 rotten Michelins on original wheels. It looks like the owner started in on each system in turn, took them partway apart, and gave up on them. Electro-level II, compressors pulled partway out of the cabinet and left. Onan missing the cover and top of the power drawer, but turns. Back A/C missing inside cover and wires pilled loose. Etc. Etc. Front part of the frame isn't too rusty, some surface. Can't get to the back, the bags are down. They have stock fittings, no shutoffs or Schraders. It purports to have a new engine in. The cover is under stuff that's been stored, so I didn't look. Dipstick is dry, there's nothibng in the pan high enough to touch it. The end has oil residue on it, about an inch above the full section
there's a brown rust band. I got pictures of it, I'll post tonight or tomorrow night on the photo site.
If I heard the engine run - on hid dime - and felt the trans engage in forward and reverse, I might give him $250 or so for it, for parts. No run, I'll get the same $250 from him to tow it away. I'll suggest he part it if I ever hear from him. If he does I'll post information. 91,6xx miles showing on the clock.
