I am in the process of reinstalling my sun visors. The threaded nuts that hold them into the headliner have frozen. So tight that I can,t turn the nut to thread them in. Has anyone ever had this problem? Has anyone removed the threaded nuts to free them? How are they made?

Jim Bounds says to use a grinder and cut the spring to decrease the tension on the nut.
Then spin the nut in by rotating the visor-only use a wrench to hold the nut while bringing the visor back for the next tightening stroke.
Hope that helps.

Using a cut off wheel, cut through on of the rings of the spring on the shaft.  Then drip penetrating oil down the shaft.  Work the nut back and forth until it loosens up.  To thread the visor in if it is still on the stiff side, use the arm to thread the screw inusing the 11/16 wrench to relocate the visor to turn.  Be sure to not cross thread the nut threads into the hole.  If you still have the washer that was on the threads us it, that helps hold the headliner cap up.

Good luck, hope this helps,

Jim Bounds
