I repeat the question I posed to RC to you; if you had a loved on killed by a drunk on the road would you still feel the same?
|
No but I know someone who was in a crash caused by someone texting while driving, so I suppose we will start having road blocks to inspect peoples call history to see if they were driving and texting?
I'm not a fan of the police state.

Well, the little two direction cameras the transit folks use should be cheap enough to put one in my coach, which I may well do.. Records tweny or thirty minutes and overwrites continuously. Feed it time and location from your GPS and then there's not a lot of question over how you and the car/truck/whatever tangled. Simply turn it slightly as the cop walks up and remove any question about what who said as well. I've never been stopped in the GMC, but I don't run over 60-65 MPH. I've never heard of one being searched except the famous Willie Nelson circumstance.

Keith,
The incident below is also ludicrous as is your proposed solution.
I gar-ron-tee Australia is NOT a police state; they took a common sense approach to solve a serious drink driving problem and it
worked.
Here's the solution to texting in New South Wales which I PERSONALLY experienced. I have a Samsung smart phone that I use as a GPS.
I was at a traffic light fiddling with it when a cop pulled up next to me and noted "that's a cell phone and if you touch it while
driving it's an automatic $200 fine." I noted "it's a GPS." He repeated; "it's a cell phone." I got the hint and said OK and put it
down.
Another pragmatic solution to a problem; I should have setup the GPS before I left home or pulled over and parked.
Regards,
Rob M.

On dash cameras are being heavily used in Russia. Lots of scam road incidents. I've seen some very funny video posted on YouTube. I have actually considered installing one. Need audio also, record the conversation at a stop. Bet this would have made the Ft. Worth stops interesting. Can you spell, "lawyer?"
