Many of the final drives that utilize either a 3:55 or 3:70 gear ratio are
not as quiet INITIALLY as the 3:07. I set up my own gears that I purchased
from Jim K. I know that it was shimmed correctly. It made noise for the
first 2500 miles or so on both acceleration and decelleration but was quiet
at steady state. It still has some noise on decelleration. Rest of the
time, quiet. Jim K said to me that some noise could be possible during
break in, I would agree with his assessment. These noises are common with
new gearsets that are not lap finished. If A PERSON was really ANAL about
it, they could put break in miles on one, then remove it from the coach and
tighten up the shimming on the gears. I personally do not think that it
would be worth the trouble, but your opinions may vary.

Yup,
It's noisy. Jim offered to substitute another, but considering the noise the rest of the coach makes, it's not worth the effort to me. I do wish it were quieter.
