ok, so I have had trouble every step of the way.. a few weeks ago I freed
my stuck transmission cable, that led to no start and a bad nss.. jim k
supplied me with a nss, installed today. per instructions set it up to see
backup lights in reverse.. all good.
so part 2.. I can not get it to start.. it will crank , but will not
start.. I did get it to start but I have to hold down the gas peddle, as
soon as I take my foot off it dies.

a little info,
everything was completely fine until I fixed my tranny cable..
I do have a turbo city throttle body on. I am not getting any codes
just a solid light (will have to purchase a aldl cable to hook it up to a
laptop.)

ideas?

Start with the basics - the tranny cable might not be the issue.
Got fuel?
Got spark?

have fuel checked that first when cranking.. assume spark since I can get
her to run when I have the pedal to the floor.

If the unit runs when the throttle is opened, I suspet the TPS (throttle position sensor).
This part can be acquired from a parts store.
DJ Eberheart of Oregon can help you on this as he use to sell the ones from Turbo City.
Your correct in connecting to the computer to see what is happening.

We supply majority of the Howell EFI units to the GMC coaches and they are similar in parts and operation.
Should you need more assistance call us on our toll line and we will assist you, or have any of the other qualified GMC people contact ou and resolve the problem.

I would have said you unknowingly knocked a vacuum line loose and you have a bad vacuum leak.

Dave,

If you have the check engine light on solid, then there is a code stored. You can manually check the code using the procedure shown here:
http://www.obd-codes.com/faq/read-gm-2-digit-obd-codes-free.php

The code may give you an idea where to look and might save some guesswork.

I wanted to send a little note to close this issue:
I could not get my laptop to ever connect.. A local GMCer gave up his
Saturday to assist me, he could not attach either, we swapped out me ecm..
wala.. could connect, no errors.. we played with it for quite a few hours,
he kept thinking it was flooded (BAD) so we tried and tried.. FINALLY she
ran and stayed running. took a few min. to smooth out, but all seems right.

thanks for listening,

Having a system that mostGMC people have and can help one another is the reason why we promote the Howell system.
If you had the MSD,Holly, or the Edolbrock unit you cannot find parts available to help.
Turbo City no longer supplies a kit for the GMC, but very similar.

Well, you know me, I have a spare Holley computer and throttle body. Plus, spare injectors and tps units.
