Every once in a while, we'll have a kid in a band or a rapper's posse show up with one of the Combat Infantryman's badges (Hawken rifle in a wreath on a blue background) pinned on. This rubs me the wrong way, so I have them take the badge off unless they were In. I was/am of the opinion that one earned that particular badge, rather than simply picking it up at a pawnshop. Is this not the case? Or, am I simply being an a$$hole over the whole thing?

Johnny, I am appalled when individuals wear medals and decorations issued to indicate accomplishments in service to this great country, that they have not and will never earn. However, the younger generations seem to think that they are just pretty babbles, suitable for their enjoyment.
Almost as bad as giving drone pilots an award for their duties that was to rank above a Purple Heart. I guess that chair fatigue is fatal.
