I'm in the process of building the second twin bed for the front of our coach. Although we will be putting in a rear 'settee' with a table, we thought it would be nice to have a table up front also.
I was impressed by Ken Henderson's table and when he said that he really liked the one that Kelvin Dietz made, I went looking for Kelvin's album and subsequently got some info from Kelvin about how his was made.
At the end of the day however, I only used the concept of non-parallel arms in Kelvin's table. I wanted to put ours on a flat bed with different geometry. After some mockups and a bit of rework I'm pretty happy with it. It MIGHT be a bit too high but that is fairly easily changed. I have to get the mattress on the bed to determine that.
The album is http://www.gmcmhphotos.com/photos/g6475-table.html
Anyway, this is where it is today....folded...the small vertical pieces of 1/2 plywood just mock up the front side of the bed:
http://www.gmcmhphotos.com/photos/data/6475/H_007.jpg
And open with something just screwed on for a test table surface:
http://www.gmcmhphotos.com/photos/data/6475/H_010.jpg
I still have to make a folding foot to hold it up...got a few ideas but need to have the exact working height determined first.
In addition to different geometry, the structure is made from 1x1x16ga steel tube. The bolts used for hinges are 3/8" and are in 1/2" steel tubing welded into the tube and reamed for the 3/8" bolts/all thread.

If I build any more, I'll probably forgo the the tube and go with 14 gauge tubing and use washers to keep from collapsing the tube.
The whole bed frame and arm assembly, less any wood, weighs about 35 pounds. The sleeping platform will be 32" wide.

Kerry,
Great job! I knew you'd get right on it, but didn't expect this prompt a
prototype.
One feature of my table that Kelvin seemed to particularly like is the
sliding top. You may not remember that when erected, my top can be moved
laterally (on ball bearing drawer slides) to make it easier to reach a
seating position. Of course, my aversion to sliding into and out of
restaurant booths probably makes it more important to me than to others.

Two smaller tanks, another access door, another propane enclosure. Pretty sure none of that will happen. :/
