Oil companies, and engine manufactures say to change your oil once a year no matter how few miles you put on it due to acids, and other contaminants. That goes for all types of oil base stocks. Mineral, or synthetic. If you put 10, to 20,000 miles on a year. Synthetics are great under thoughts conditions. That is what I;d use. if your at 4 to 6,0000 miles, or less. Or are using oil from leaks, or burning it. Then the mineral oils will protect you engine investment. As they have for decades. And at an economical price. If you find that the mineral base stock oils fit you driving. Then a diesel oil blend oil is recommended due to the fact that it contains the 1,200 PPM of zinc. Diesel oils are outstanding oils for both spark, and compression ignition engines. The reason that oil companies produce oils that are for spark ignition engines ONLY, is simple economics. Oils that are made for spark ignition engines are cheaper to produce. And for the past 7 years. These oils only
have 600 PPM of zinc. If our GMC's had roller cams. Then the zinc content wouldn't be an issue. So in short. Buy for how you drive. And buy the brad you like.
