Ready to knock out the knurled adapter in my old wiper arms.
Can someone please tell me which way I need to knock them out and the best way to do it.

Sir: they knock out from front to back. Use a vise or a socket or a wrench or anystuff that will be wider than the insert but not as wide as the arm. Screwdriver or punch will get it out. A lot of times it will stay on the shaft. When you drill the Lumina wiper do not do it to deep cause you will have to use washers to get the nut to tighten all the way down. Trial and error. When you get one done mark the drill bit with tape where to stop. I might advise to put the insert on the shaft then put the arm on straight and tighten down enough to mark and hold the insert then remove and tighten in a vise with wooden paint paddles in the jaws.

I have a related issue.
I've installed the new wiper blades and they look great.
The passenger side is just fine, but the drivers side looses contact with the windshield for the last 2/3rd of its swipe. And I cannot get it down lower on the shaft.
I need to do some more serious investigation. Is there an adjustment to move the entire contraption more inward ?? Maybe I need to drill out the knurled insert to a larger diameter (it's the original)...
So many projects... and a day job too.

sounds more like the arm is binding, try lubing the pivot point where the arm bends.
I've seen them get really sticky

ou might want to back off the nut and reset the arm as you tighten it again.
I did that mistake myself one time on my own coach.
Should any need a replacement Knurled sleeve, we have them in stock.
