Carl,

I can't remember what the problem was but suffice it to say Glenn and BJ left in their GMC under its own power. Hopefully someone
with a better memory can fill in what was wrong with it.

That didn't happen at Branson. At Dothan they lost a rear wheel bearing on the way. I believe they had to be towed about 30 miles to the campground. Several people helped get the parts (spindle, bearing and brake parts) off. New parts were shipped in and everything was put back together before the convention ended.

Thanks Rob,

I was just curios as to what they could have "hit" that would have bent (seeing the scuff marks on the wheel well and tracking holder) the axel/arm like that!

I can't tell from the picture, but it does not appear the rotor separated from the axel.

Amazingly, the front wheel and other body parts showed no apparent signs of damage.

Will also be interesting to hear HOW it was fixed as well - Pictures would be even better Wink

Refer to my previous email. The arm was not bent. The wheel bearing disintegrated.

Forgot to add -- the arm was not bent but the heat from the bearing must have heated the axle so much that it lost its temper and bent.

Emery,

Thanks for the info - I must have posted prior to seeing your response.

But that also brought up another question, it does not appear the rotor separated from the spindle.... Correct?

Or was the wheel taken off and the rotor placed back on the spindle? - Seems hard to believe that the rotor/spindle/bearings could get that hot and not separate.

Thanks - Carl P.

No, the rotor did not come off. When the spindle overheated it bent. I have never seem that happen before. I am sure that it is hardened steel. The bad bearing must have gotten so hot that it took the temper from it. The caliper is what held everything together. The pads were turned to charcoal. The caliper, rotor, spindle and bearings had to all be replaced. It was a Harrison rotor and caliper. He shipped the parts in and we were working on it within 3 days. I was going to take a spindle from the club's rear bogie assembly that has been used for seminars but Glenn got one quickly shipped in.
