I was just wondering

Becourse of transportation cost and taxes spareparts from the US become quite expensive

So I wondered how many members are there in Europe and maybe we could help each other with preused parts we have laying around ?

Maybe a small database?

Appie I do not know if you have heard about this company ?

http://www.jetcarrier.com/default.asp?lang=45

I use them all the time and you can choose between air and sea shippments, just a good way to get the shipping costs down, espescally on larger items.

Hello, I live in France with a 1978 GMC eleganza, and I have a friend who is also in a GMC motorhome in southern France.

Yes there are more, but no way to make kontakt
Thats why I try this
Wil make kontakt to those who react here ( also Jean Luc)

No matter how transport is arranged it has a price plus 15% salestax and import duties

At least we can use the parts that are around here

Espen,

UPS also has a sea freight service; next time you need something shipped it might be a good idea to get a quote from them too. If
you have already done that any experience would be appreciated.

Here's my experience shipping stuff to Sydney. The first time I did it I went to a freight consolidator in San Francisco. The built
a box on a standard pallet (48" x 40") that was about 30" high. It was way oversize an the items did not come close to filling it
up. You would have thought they would stack the items on a pallet and then measure how high the box had to be! At any rate I'd guess
I paid for 25% extra to ship air as sea freight goes by volume. It cost me $3000 to ship that box, the stuff in it worth that much!
The only important thing in the box was a Manny tranny and 3.21 to 1 final drive.

The second time I found a guy that ships container loads of auto parts from Long Beach to California. John Sharpe and I strapped the
caddy engine to a 36" x 36" plastic pallet and wrapped it with the thick shipping clear plastic. The parts were stacked at least 24"
high. Along with that pallet were three other boxes; one contained a cabinet from my parts Avion that was about 70" x 18" x 18", the
second contained a spare stainless sink 24" x 18" x 12"; and the third contained a Barbie GMC 40" x 18" x 18". That shipment went
from Houston to Long Beach by truck for $600 and another $900 down to Sydney.

I have a bunch more stuff to ship to Australia and I'm going to get a quote from UPS Sea Freight along with the guy that ships stuff
out of Long Beach.

Regards,
Rob M.

No Matter how its done small freight from the us is expensive
I had a import of kayaking gear and a few pallets from the us would cost almost the same as a container from china

Sea freight being a lot cheaper then air of course

If you can fill in somebodys container it can be for free!

All in all price reflex speed and bulk

By the time parts came from the us to Denmark prices have nearly doubled

It is not as bad as it seams as parts are about half price in the US anyway

The first $1000 is free of duties and GST beyond that the duty depends on what it is but GST stays 10%. The GST is calculated on the
landed value. IE item cost + shipping cost + duty X 10% GST.

Our tax free limit is for the moment $ 33.50 and have been at that level since 1976 (200.00 Nok) Rolling Eyes

Yes I have checked with UPS, way to expencive, the only way to get it cheaper than Jet carrier is to get your own container and fill it up yourself

Australia went from $400 to $1000 but that does not include booze or tobacco.

Please clarify if you check on UPS Sea Freight?

Appie,

Go to this web site <gmcmhregistry> and select "Statistics". You should find a list of all foreign owned GMCs by country. The web master should know who owns them, but whether or not he will release that information is doubtful.

Yes I did, the problem is not the price of the freight but the handling fees on this side, the company I use (Jetcarrier) does not charge you for transfer or any handling fees, you will of course pay VAT of the value and the have great inland shipping prices.
