in your craigslist ad you said that if it didnt have to spend money to store it youd keep it. why not send it up to the desert and put it in our rental fleet? you would keep ownership and have access to it 48 weeks a year and it wouldnt cost you anything to store it. it sounds like its ready to go other than the engine issues and wouldnt need any rehab. you would be makin 2k+ a year, you would still have your coach and if you have an engine to put in it we could get that done. just an option

BRDRVR, I sent you a message a few months ago inquiring if you wanted it, and also if you also knew about the High Power Rocketry that goes on out your way that would be another market for you. Did you ever get that message?

I am only interested in selling it. Need the cash for other things. $2K per year is not worth the trouble to get it up there and worry about it too. You are simply too far away for me to use it those other 48 weeks.

it just has to drive 16 miles once there right. If you tow it up there from AZ. tow it on the playa, etc.
David you have a great idea up there. good luck. It is only going to get bigger every year. mickey 77 palm playa, anaheim ca.

yeah. im 13 miles from the festival. there is alot of rocketry going on out there. the chinese come over and spend weeks blowin sh#t off. the problem is that im not out there full time and have yet to find someone that i can count on locally to deal with checking the units in and out. plus the winters are harsh. its already dipping into the thirtys. when i leave i have to winterize the coaches to last the winter. it cost nearly 60$ in anti freeze alone making sure the plumbing wont freeze and blow the pipes or tanks. with air filters and oil changes that i gotta do when the girls come off the playa it just doesnt make sense dollar wise to rent them out any other time. i get 5k from these burners for 3-10days but there is no way that the jr astronauts can handle that kind of money. as far as your offer of buying your coach. for my business model to work i have to pick these units up cheap, transport them out and get them to a rent able condition for as close to the first years rental fee as i can. charging some silicon valley hipster 5500 for a unit for a week sounds like ludicrous money at first glance but when it comes down to it i need 1 years rental to get the coaches out there. the second years rental to rehab the things and the third years rental to re do the drive train. but im starting out with units that in most cases havent been attended to in years. mostly from estates. units that have been in storage for years and the po either got sick or passed on and the kids or widows are left with them. more times then not someone close to the family researches and sees units for sale for 25k and convinces the trustee that for just a little bit of money they can get big $$$. they try to add some fuel and that doesnt do it. then add a new fuel pump and that doesnt do it. about that time they either give up or buy a big box of parts that never gets installed and i come in and pick it up for 1-2000. i have too much respect and am not gonna embarrass me or you by offing you such a lowball number for your coach. we, as a community know the value of these but also realize the amount of time and costs it takes to keep these girls going. at the same time tho if im shelling out 6k out of the box im looking at no return for 4 years. im better of buying 3 @ 2000 and showing a profit by year three. the only difference between me and everybody else who owns these GMCs is eventually i will get every dime i put in to them, out of them. which is the way robin hood is looking at it i believe. hes gonna put his coach in the rental pool and we will rehab the unit with rental funds and in a couple years he will have a coach that is full function-able and worth more then what is was when i got it. at that point he can pull it out or bank the 2500 a year and still have a coach to use to come do a west coast rally or a grand canyon vacation with the grandkids without driving his unit across the country. as you said in your craigslist ad you have over 20k+ in your coach and your looking for 25 cents on the dollar for a return just to be done with it and get your wife off your back. the ONLY way you could recoup your investment at this point is leave it with me for the next 10 years. im not tryin to be harsh. i just wanted to make the offer. ive got 3 owners now that want to put their units in the pool for next year and i have 2 coaches that i have acquired that i need to transport out west and rehab. i started last year with 5 and now have 11 and hope to double every year till we get the fleet up to 50 units in the next 5 years. this festival just keeps getting bigger and it doesnt look to be ending anytime soon. my biggest problem now is getting enough units for the demand. last year i had a waiting list of 37 people desperately wanting rv to rent. right now i need 2 things- coaches and investors

What David said.

There is no way I can restore two of these. With a bit of work, however, I
can get the Royale into good enough shape to get out there, and plow my
share of the rental fee into further upgrades. Currently it costs money
just sitting there at the new storage lot! :) I would much prefer paying
storage on one than on two!

Two grand a year will pay for a ton of upgrades over the course of a few
years.

Black tank and generator need replaced. Belts and hoses too. Appliances are
unknown quantity. Interior upholstery is ratty but I think David may want
to redo the interior to be playa specific. I feel like any consignment
rental ought to be in good enough shape to get there under its own power
and not be a complete basket case.

Hope JimB gets the new briefcase genny system figured out and turnkey... I
gotta put something back there, and the Onan is going back in the Queen.
