Suppose that's why somebody else replaced that door latch???
And good luck pulling the hinge pins to remove the door. Them babies are
semi-permanent.

Guess the pics I sent would not go, here is the copy:
George Emailed me telling about this thread. Sorry for the problem, actually I am surprised GM didn't have the problem and do something. Quite seriously, if the mechanism jams and the door is shut, there are few ways to get it open. Even pulling the hinge pins, the cap on the stud will prevent you from getting the latch loose! I learn from mistakes, the "23d" Duramax coach had it's door jam on it's shakedown. I told the owner it would not help him but I promised that every coach I built from then on would have the opening.
Don't know if the attached pics will go but here is the location for the opening and what it looks like covered. You may be able to wiggle a coat hanger down the locl pin hole (unscrew the plastic cap) and grab the horizontal latch bar inside. You can reach it with no problem taking off the plate after you cut the opening.

Coop Motors modifies the door metal cover to have a square cutout at the rear over the door look assembly. Jim covered this recently on one of his daily chats. Had pictures to show this mod.

Jim and all,
Thanks for the input.
I removed all the screws on the inside panel and that released the binding allowing me to unlock and open the door. With the door open I removed the panel and am now back where I started.
New Issue;
The rod connecting the inside handle to the latching mechanism appears to be about 1/2 inch short.
When connected and all buttoned up the handle doesn't move the rod.
My rod is 4 3/4 inched center to center between the pins.
Any one with a door panel off that can measure your rod?
Any suggestions for finding the proper length rod?
Otherwise I need some way to lengthen the one I have.
