I need a little help here.

Yesterday when I started my coach, I heard this thrashing noise when
I tried to start the motor. Once it starts the noise goes away. I shut the coach
down and tried again, with the same noise.

Any suggestions ?

starter is not that hard to remove. just make sure you disconnect the battery cable before messing with it... takes about 3-4 minutes to remove it.

I had a broken gear on my starter once. that caused some awful noise. it happened when i accidentally hit start while motor was running.

I would suggest starting with that, if you are sure it is when the starter is engaging.

Might be the starter hanging up for a bit. If it is you might consider
pulling the starter and bell housing cover and looking at the teeth on the
ring gear. They might be a bit carved up as at least on my engine the
starter seems to engage at exactly the same spot each time. If they are
carved up a bit you might get in there with a die grinder or dremel tool and
try to smooth any bad teeth. Check the starter teeth as well. Might need a
new pinion gear. Also check the starter attachment bolts. Mine seemed to
come loose fairly often so I drilled and safety wired them.

Thanks,
