Starting to think about the frame rail replacement looming in the future. Can someone point me to any info we have on this. I believe Stuckey is THE source but wondering about install options in the midwest. What looks scary to me is how easily the bowing lower C rail can be bent back up with minimal floor jack force.

John,
Contact Dave Marchiando in IL; he's in the GMCMI roster. He's done several
frame replacements.

Mike,
When you say you have the replacement frame, does that mean that you have a replacement Stucky build frame or a replacement stock frame?
From where you live the guy that does the frame replacements for Stucky is only about 60 miles on the other side of Port Huron. It takes him about 10 to 14 days to do the replacement and it would be done right and quickly. If you would like to have it done then I would suggest you give Dan a call. To do it yourself can be a daunting task. You will need the equipment to jack the body off the frame and everything between the body and frame with need to be labeled and disconnected. That would include brakes, a loads of wiring, plumbing (all black tank stuff) including toilet and all vents and remove and reinstall tank. Fuel system including all fuel lines tanks hoses and wiring and R&R of the tanks and the list goes on. Then you have to separate the front and rear clips from the main frame and then you can reverse the process. Suggest that you have a log book on what you took apart and use it as a check list when reassembling. Dan might have a written procedure on how t
o change the frame out as he does sell the frames by themselves. I wish you patience and luck if you decide to do it yourself. Your are probably looking at many months if you can only work on it on evenings and weekends. I know that you're a GMCGL member and depending on when you do it, you might get a few members to help, I know of one who has done a frame off restoration on one of the coaches he has done. He does have pictures (not digital) and if you want to call him contact Dale Frahm. You can find his number in the club directory.

A good while back i recall reading about Jim Bounds replacing just the frame side rails. I don't recall if it was a message posted here or if it was on his daily pose.
He replaced the rails one side at a time by jacking one side and pulling the side rail. To do this, the crossmembers need to be solid, but the job appears to be much simpler than pulling the complete frame out from under the coach. It all certainly depends on what needs replacement. By searching you should be able to find the details.
