On most vehicles you replace the belt from the front by slipping it over the fan. On the GMC that is difficult to do since the front is not accessible and the clearance between the fan and the shroud is small. Here's a simple way I found to replace the belt from behind the fan.

From inside the coach, lower the belt between the engine and the fan. Take a loop of belt and push it through the fan, over one blade, and back towards you until it is back behind the fan. Holding onto the belt turn the fan to to the next blade and repeat. Work your way around the fan. Once you have pushed the loop over each blade it will be behind the fan and around the water pump. Then install on whatever accessory it goes to.

I think this will only work on a fan that can turn. You can remove a belt the same way, just push the belt forward over the blades instead. The belt will end up behind the fan and not around the water pump.

Another thing I realized is that (at least on my coach) you don't need to remover the power steering belt to replace the alternator belt, even though the PS belt is in front of it on the main pulley. The alternator belt goes completely around the PS belt, not behind it, and can be removed all by itself.
