The joys of sorting out a new coach...
I know it's not the Air cleaner because I put in new.
When I push on the gas in neutral revs fine....
when I get under way it just will not go If I gas it.
Will go for a bit but then peters out and you have to back way off to get it to float down the road at 25 or 30....
Sound familiar?
any comments appreciated.
Thanks,

Can you accelerate by lightly pressing the pedal?
Sometimes the carburetor air flap opens too fast and the engine bogs down.
But, tell us more about your symptoms before we begin to guess.

Starts right up...
Will rev in place fine as well.
Choke takes a couple minutes for idle to come down
Drop in drive will accelerate fine for a few seconds...
Then will not take any pedal without almost dying..
Feels like it wont go anywhere but flat or a little down hill...
If you try and force it, it feels like it wants to cut out so you back way off the throttle and the engine surges very weakly.
Has not actually died and you cannot pedal through to a higher rpm.
It ran fine until I filled it with more gas....
That is about as detailed as I can get!

You may have stirred up some sludge when you added the new gas. I'd vote for filters.

Put a new fuel filter (s) in it, and then check the distributor advance.

Again check the filter(s). Not uncommon to put gas in and stir up the grot in the tanks. To include the frame mounted cannister the PO installed but didn't document. Might also take the hose off the inlet to the pump on the engine and give it a shot of compressed air back to the tanks.

Secondaries not used in normal driving. Sounds more like filter or bad hose or tank sock. Check fuel selector for restriction or drive on reserve as a test

So there is no in line filter
which leaves sock filters and the paper
One in the base of the carb...
That should be fun!!
Where can I get that paper one for the quadrajet?

Curt,
While you are checking filters also check for cracks in the rubber fuel lines and evidence of fuel seepage.
It is possible for cracked lines to take in air when the pump is sucking under acceleration- symptoms are as you describe- same as a blocked filter.
While you have the fuel line off the carb to replace the carb filter connect a piece of hose to the down stream end of the steel line and crank the engine(or energize your elec pump if you have one) to pump a little fuel into a clear plastic bottle.
You'll be able to see what quantity of debris, if any, is getting up to the carb.
I recently had a similar but much worse problem AFTER removing the tanks and having them (professionally??)cleaned and boiled out at a radiator shop. Reinstalled the tanks with new sending units and pick-ups(From Jim K) all new pressure and vent lines and 2 inline filters. AFTER all that there was still enough stuff in the tanks to almost completely plug a new filter within ten miles.
Compromised filter=low fuel flow=lean a/f ratio= heating=other problems and the beat goes on.
I got no relief from the rad shop!
Finally got the crap filtered out. I became quite adept at changing multiple fuel filters.
Good luck and welcome to the club.

And use a flair nut wrench on the fuel line (not an open end wrench) while holding the large nut stationary to prevent twisting line.
