Howard,
I reckon that the fuel picks up its heat in those big, flat, shallow tanks sitting a foot or so above the hot road surface.

That is why we have aluminum diamond plate all across the bottom with a kick up in front of the first fuel tank.

Howard,
That's what I intend to do when I get around to plumbing the tanks with Poly Armour.
Why a kick up?
I was going to space the diamond plate so that there was about 1/2" or so space between it and the tanks to allow airflow between
them. By doing that the fuel in the tanks would only reach whatever the air temp was between the road and the bottom of the GMC.
Yes, I realize theoretically there would be some radiated heat from the diamond plate to the tanks but I believe it would be
minimal. OR I could be REALLY anal and insulate the diamond plate! NOT!

The kick up on the front keeps the heat from the engine from hitting the tanks.
I used self tapping sheet metal screws to attach the diamond plate to the frame.
You will have about 1/2 inch of air space between tanks and the diamond plate.
I tried painting the tanks with Henrys silver roofing tar/paint?
Made none or very little differences
That is a story in it self.
Try painting it on at a KOA just before the sun comes up.
With a sign stating no "Working on your R V".
It's nice to have a crew member "Wife Susie" who is willing to be your look out.
