Good route. Four lanes all the way. We live just west of Sikeston. Lambert s restaurant in Sikeston is a famous restaurant where they feed you more than you can eat and throw the rolls across the dining room to you.
Will be good to meet you and to see Bobbies old coach again.

Make sure you drive it on the right side of the road!

Lining up the top corners of the instrument dash with the lines on the road seems to be a good rule of thumb.

Way too cool. If i lived in another country, I cannot think of a better way to travel and see the united states then your plan!

We will be leaving from near Carbondale, IL and going the same route wednesday morning. We'll likely be a bit ahead of you but you never know. We'll probably cross the river at Cape Gardieau and head down to Sikeston from there. If you run into issues give me a shout. 2five6-6seven9-four48eight.

i currently have left hand drive vehicles here in australia so LHD is not the problem. last time we came it took a while to get used to which way to look at intersections but it doesn't take long to adjust.

Trevor,

If you have not done so yet download and read the Operators manual here:

http://www.bdub.net/manuals/ops76/index.html

On Wednesday, September 18th Helen and I will be driving from Champaign, IL to just south of St. Louis and will spend the evening
at:

Koa Campground
74 Highway West
Stanton, MO 63069
888-562-4498

If you like we can meet there and drive 190 miles from there to Branson together.

Regards,
Rob M.

Trevor,
Most of all do not make any mistakes in navigation, the GMC is way too big for doing U turns.
Have a safe trip as I know it will be a rewarding experience.
Don't forget you will need to practise singing you will need to leed the singing of the Australian anthem at the rally, Rob and Helen will help you they have done it before.
My neighbour is in the US at the moment and he just emailed me to warn me he has posted a bunch of parts to my address for his 68 Cadillac convertible.

Recommend a GPS. No sense in getting even a little lost. Also, if you will travel along the Interstate system, stop at Cracker Barrel and get a copy of "Next Exit," it has listings of what is available at every exit on the Interstate. Right now, the purchase price is less than $5.
Cracker Barrels are a generally good place to stop for meals, if you are into that. All of them have parking for RV's. Even the relative small size of the GMC can be challenged at some parking spots.
Gook luck, looking forward to meeting you at Branson.

Trevor,

Yep, you should be able to read it cover to cover during your 14 hour flight to the USA!

Tom Phipps suggested you buy a GPS. If you're brining a phone that has a SIM chip in it you can also download GPS Aps for iPhones
and Androids which will serve as a GPS.

Keep in mind that sitting in the driver's seat that you are sitting on top or slightly in front of the front wheels. You need to go farther into the intersection when making turns. When turning, especially to the right, watch the right rear wheels in the mirror to make sure you do not smack a curb and bend the leading rear bogie wheel. This is a very common problem for new GMC drivers.

When you get it back to Australia, I have no suggestions for driving it up-side-down on the wrong side of the road.

One time after driving for almost two weeks in Australia I pulled out of a gas station in Cairns and drove about a block before my daughter told me I was on the wrong side of the road. I did the same thing a couple of times in New Zealand. I find I do that after I get comfortable on the wrong side of the road and there are no other vehicles around.

I guess it all works out in the end.
