Some sellers have asked me about missing "the season." This is just a confirmation of what would seem logical but, FWIW, the number of classic/vintage coach ads on Craigslist (that spans about 14 brands, not just GMCs) is dropping quickly. The peak was in the first 2 weeks of August. It's already dropped by roughly half.

The traffic trend graphs I followed on GMCs were very familiar to me as they mimicked online resort tourism --an industry I have almost 20 years experience in. Again, that's logical.

So, assuming that the coach market continues to follow the above patterns, the low point of the season will -literally- be Christmas day. It'll start ticking up Dec 26th and then shift into 2nd gear in April and then shift in high gear in June.

I don't specifically track ebay ads, but I do eyeball them almost daily. It appears that the pattern holds there, too.

All the above is based on seller's ads. Other than anecdotal information, I don't know much about buyers.

I'd have thought so, too. And it very well may be --particularly in regions that are RV-heavy and/or have travel weather that time of year. But nationally, assuming that the 2012-2013 crop of buyers were using search engines, then the volume (and the season) was probably a little later than that. May-June, maybe.

Around here, the boat dealers (Lake Lanier) say the selling season is gone after the 4th of July. I suspect RVs are similar.

I wonder if there is a difference in buying habits for something you'll finance versus something you'll pay cash for and maybe have to do some work on?

I'd hate for my first payment on a new boat to be about the time I am winterizing it.

But late summer might be when a lot of people think aobut getting an old camper, get a little use out of it and then work on it for next year?

Dunno - your theory has merit though. I'm allergic to making payments, so I bought a cheep GMC out of pocket. I suspect most of the folks on this forum did the same. I do stuff as the money presents. I work in an unstable industry - always have - so I try to stay where I can survive if necessary doing "Welcome to Wal-Mart" and "You want fries with that?" As long as I got a salary I can live - but I can exist of need be on SS and retirement from Uncle and a couple others. This way I can buy gas for the GMC and entry fees for dog shows. I think as you do, a faor number of people - particularly tinkerers - take this route. Time of year isn't all that important.
