Are they fixable? Or can you buy new ones. Wires are corroded. And I can't get the stainless screws out. These GMC's are great. Their always out there in the shop thinking of stuff for me to do.
Thanks, Bob Dunahugh.78 Royale

Bob,
The sensors used in the holding tanks are most likely corroded badly, mine were eaten up on the wetted ends. The wires can be repaired by putting new connectors on the ends. I replaced the probes in our tanks last fall with these probes.

I had the same problem on my 76, the screws just turned
I just grabbed the screw head with a pliers and wiggled and twisted them out. They are just rubber so they come out ok.

once out you can grab the spinning nut and loosen the screw to get the wire off

then put in fresh new ones and it all works

Anybody have a simplified diagram on how these 5 wire sensors work? I assume that one of the lower contacts is a common and the other contacts represent the 1/4, 1/2, 3/4. and Full levels. The effluent provides the electrical conductivity between the contacts.

Back at the monitor panel the operator has to push a switch in order to provide power (or a ground?) to the common terminal.

Right now my panel gives me a 1/4 indication without pushing any switches. Needless to say I end up having to disconnect all the house batteries when in storage.

Is it worth repairing the old system or just junk it and go to a new one?

Norris saved the price of the entire panel on my 23'. The water tank is visibile in the cabinet under the icebox. It's the same capacity as the blackwater tank, so when the water gets low, it's time to dump. Simple but effective system.
