I have a 77 EII and 2 Honda leather take out seats form Amana convention. What adaptor brackets do I need to install and have swivel clear side wall. Anyone have these fabricated or for sale? I don't want to try to figure out what someone else already has perfected.

John,

If you are talking about Honda Odyssey seats, there is a very good step-by-step pictorial at : http://www.palmbeachgmc.com
Look under Upgrades. I'm following it to put Honda seats in my Eleganza.

If your seat bases have the swivel offset to the side of one end, your choices are limited. If you cut the swiveling plate and reweld it to allow you to put the swivel on the front left on the passenger side seat, the base you have left for the driver's side will have to be oriented to swivel into the living space, OR not be able to swivel at all (steering wheel is in the way). You would then be able to rotate the passenger seat 180 degrees clockwise, but it can only face front or back, it can't face the driver's seat.

I spent a good part of one day shuffling the bases around and side to side and even cut off the pivot stop off one to allow it to rotate in the opposite direction, and never came up with a satisfactory orientation.

I finally gave up and decided to put them in so that they can rotate 90 degrees to face each other. But they can't be oriented to be able to rotate from facing the windshield to facing the rear AND also able to face the middle. Why the swivel is not in the center is beyond me. Very frustrating.

Thanks guys. Wondering if the unistrut was on top of the GMC base instead of under it, would that stop the clearance issues, requiring less cutting of the Unistrut? Would the seat be too high then?

I put the unistrut under. When I put it on top of the plate the seats felt too hight.

Speaking of Honda seats, anyone bring sets for sale to International? Honda vans are slim picking around Mississippi.

mine are under also. They are still to high for Cat. I plan to add bout 1 1/2' spacer between the struts and the seats to lower some more.

Why the swivel is not in the center is beyond me. Very frustrating.

The early model slant bases have the pivot in the center, but on these bases the Honda seats can't pivot at all because they hit the wall of the coach. I think that is why they went to the offset bases in the 76-78 coaches, to get more wall clearance.

They offset the swivel so far that the seats can only pivot 90 degrees one way without hitting something else. I wanted to make the cockpit seats part of the living area (when parked) by rotating them 180 degrees, but the offset makes the seats hit the rear dinette, or whatever is behind the cockpit seats, at any angle more than 90. I have a set of seat bases in the CanyonLands that don't have any offset, but I haven't measured them for height yet. If they are the right height, I might exchange the ones with the offset swivel with them. If I can muster the energy.

I would have used the slant bases I had, but I don't have the tools to do all the cutting and welding to make them work. They were 3" too tall for the Honda seats.

I'm a bit confused on this drilling /grinding out rivets on the honda seats to retain the Honda seat track. I took all the black mechanism off down to the bare silver Honda seat. I want to use and keep all stock the mechanism from the GMC for slide and rotate. Seems to me then you would have 2 sets of moving tracks if you keep the Honda stuff. Looks like I need to drill one more set of holes in the silver base of the Honda seats to hit the 11.5" mark but no rivets to remove this way. Am I missing something?

You can see what I did in this picture, honda seat retains factory (Honda) forward/aft adjuster, welded frame to original side swivel base with the pipe cut down so it just floats without the lock rubbing. It is a little tall. I'm 5'8" and its ok, wish it were 1/2" lower

I also cut the top off original slanted base and used it to back up the bolts under the floor

I have the original (GMC)seat sliders if anyone is interested.

I removed ALL the Honda hardware. Drilled one hole forward to get 11.5 from center rear hole. Cut plastic on outboard side if Honda seat to clear GMC rotation lock lever. Unistrut is open side up so GMC studs are long enough. Greased the GMC pipe mechanism and put sticky velcro on the rotation stop tab so no play or clunky slop. Height and swivel great.
