Bob
You can buy replacement for your toilet.
If you know the make and model numbers.
Check with the Jim's first, or your friendly local dealer.
On ours it was only the gasket around the ball valve.
It was a quick fix with parts from a local dealer.
Bob where are you located?
If close I'll glad to help you.

I doubted that this was the case because we have used it twice and ran out of fresh water (with frugal use) in a day and a half. We also noticed that the black water tank was full at the same time.
> Well, this week end we figured out what is happening. At about 3:00 A.M. my wife woke up and heard water trickling- she got up to investigate and found the toilet bowl about a half inch from over flowing. Evidently our toilet valve does not completey shut off and contiues to leak into our black water tank. Our black water tank was completely full also so I had to get dressed run outside and shut off the city water we were hooked up to. As soon as the sun came up I emptied the holding tanks and the potential disaster was averted. I continued checking it all week end and ended up emptying the holding tanks 5 times which means I probalby have the cleanest tanks in town.

Bob,
First, welcome to the group/family/cult/asylum
We encourage those in the group to have a sigfile that gives a real name, a small coach description and geographic reference. Most of this is to help those that might wish to be help to you. If we know which model coach and where you are, it can save us all a lot of trouble. It looks like you are working the list from the forum. Be aware those (about half) that work the list as E-mail can't see the location that comes up in the forum title block.
Without knowing what make/model your toilet is, all any body can say is that it sounds like you need to replace the valve. With the typical Thetford pot, this is a simple, but PITA job. The plastic valves are also very prone to freeze damage if not properly winterized. The whole kit is about 40$.
Your water use and near flood is why most of us don't put on city water unless we will be paying attention all the time. Leaving the coach with city water on is a serious risk.
Finally, you have already found out that this is a tight community. I liken it to the watermen I grew up among. The way we relate to our coaches has caused me to welcome new owners much as a new owner or vessel would be welcomed in that community. So,
May the Good Lord bless this coach and all those that set forth within her.
Welcome Bob,
Matt

Thanks for the warm welcome Matt. I updated my file so it should show some additional information. As you pointed out, we learned a valuable lesson about leaving our coach hooked up to city water. If my wife hadn't heard the water trickling we would have had a real mess on our hands. I'm glad the Good Lord watches out for us newbies and fools. Thanks again, Bob
