Easiest way I've found. Set the drum on the face of one of your wheels with the lugs in the holes. Get the biggest screwdriver you have, or a tire iron, or any long metal bar with a flat end. Lay a 2"x4" across the drum, slide the flat end of the bar under the seal until it is under the metal, then pry it out.
I made a tool for this by grinding a flat on the end of a 3' piece of 1/2" bar stock. Pops the seals out with virtually no effort.

I am afraid of damaging the bearing. Also, am I prying up on the seal, or
prying on the bearing?
I have a brake spoon and it gets under the rubber of the seal.
What I'm doing doing doesn't "feel" right.

Got it! I used my pickle fork as a puller.

Robin: you are prying on the seal. It may bend if you don`t get all the way under it. Will probably have to rotate around it till it breaks loose. It will be seated tight. If the outer washer will go thru the outer bearing race hole with the bearing out, put the drum back on with no outer bearing and put the washer and nut on and jerk the drum off leaving the inner bearing and seal on the spindle.

You're prying up on the metal part of the seal by pushing down on the other end of your bar using the 2"x4" as the fulcrum.You shouldn't be prying on the bearing at all, and if your spoon doesn't reach the metal part of the seal it won't do any good. The seals are friction fit, and it does take some effort to pry them out.

Robin,
Stick about a foot long hardwood dowel through the hub contacting the bearing, and with a couple of hammer taps the bearing and seal will pop out .
