We have been fighting a nonworking speedo cable for the last year. It was
working and then suddenly while driving along it wasn't. Thouhgt we had it
fixed - and it was for about 50 miles - but then it stopped again. This is
what has been done:

Checked the trani gear and it looks fine
Replaced the intermediate cruise control box
Replaced the upper cable - the one removed was froze, thought that was our
sole problem, but guess not
Replaced the lower cable

Any suggestions? We are getting tired of head scratching.
And just in case the new cables are the wrong length, does any one have the
correct lengths.

GPS works fine for the speedo part, but really miss having the odometer
working. It functions as a back up fuel gauge.

I think I would separate the two cables and make sure the bottom one is turning as you roll the coach. If so, then hook them back together and un hook from speedo. If the entire cable is rotating, as the coach rolls, then it is the head unit.

Did you check the square cable drive in the trani gear or just the gear portion?

If the top cable was froze, then a square drive lower in the system must be stripped. Or a lower cable must have been snapped.

Does the Cruise Control work when the speedometer is not working?

If the answer is yes, then the lower cable and transmission governor gear are good. The problem is the either the output of the Cruise Control, the upper cable cable, or the speedometer head.

If the answer is no, then the problem is between the cruise control and the transmission plastic driving the governor.

If you suspect the Cruise Control unit or lower cable itself, disconnect the upper cable from the the Cruise Control and run the cable direct to the Transmission governor and see if that works.
