| I just took a quick look at the Maintenance Manual. The Cruise Control section in my 73 manual starts on page 12-31. Figure 46 is a troubleshooting guide. CC Electrical System Check Out begins on page 12-38, and references figure 48 on page 12-39. There are some things that can be checked with a VOM (multi meter).

Interesting. I've been having issues with my cruise control. It was working intermittently, but now it just plain doesn't work. In comparing the vacuum hose routing in Figure 53 to mine, the vacuum hose that feeds the transducer is coming directly off of the carburetor and not the vacuum "christmas tree." (There are still three vacuum lines that connect to the tree, but one of them is routed down towards the passenger side wheel well--still need to see what it connects to.)
Generally, the wiring and vacuum lines in my engine bay are kind of a mess and need to be better organized. That's GMC Project #120583^14.

I have two suggestions for your cruise control.
First go to the transducer and find the ground wire. Remove it from the body of the coach, extend the wire, and attach it to the engine block.
Second move the vacuum source to the port on the center rear of the intake manifold behind (not on) the carb.

Bob;
The trouble with my GMC, the electric switch at brake
brake pedal was out of adjustment. Also the vacuum
switch on brake pedal would not hold a vacuum.
Replaced the vacuum switch and ajusted the electric
switch. Works like new.

You cabn check to make sure power is being applied, and that the brake 'dump' switch is working. Check also the brake vacuum dump, they fail and the line gets old and cracked and leaks. Past that, do as my PO did, swap the module for a rebuild from Applied or Jim Bounds.

Can a multi meter be used to test why
it's not working? 78 GMC. Thanks, Bob
