My mobil 1 grease gun sat in the sun for about 2 hours and the grease separated. Liquid about the consistency of brake fluid leaked out in some quantity leaving a pink paste inside.

Wonder what it does when really hot? Like under load in a bearing?

It does the same thing. I had it happen on rear wheel bearings. Luckily Blaine Merrell spotted it before I destroyed them.

Mobil One grease and Frame filters belong in the same category.

I wouldn't worry about it separating after installed in a wheel bearing.

If I am not mistaken, it is designed to get liquidy at bearing operating temp so it can flow into bearing rollers.

If it stayed stiff, it would get pushed out of bearing rollers and never flow back in to lubricate.

Just my 2 cents.

Mobile 1 wrecked my left shoe yesterday. Had switched to Synpower long ago but the red watery stuff was in the rear of the gun plunger. I was carefully geasing my trailer hubs and trying to stay clean and I look down and rhe back of the gun has peed red liquid all over the top of my shoe. Shot right through to the sock.

Always relieve the pressure on the plunger when storing the grease gun.  Otherwise liquid will separate out from synthetic grease.

Gee guys. All this angst about lubrication. Use Amsoil. Grease, filters, oil. No additives, no crawling under the rig 4x a year it just works.
