The brake locks used on a lot of 6-disc coaches for many
years has the same potential drawback, but is a lot harder
to install and only works on 2 to 4 wheels, depending on which lines
you put it on (front or rear).
The original mechanical brakes on our two coaches could not be
called an emergency brake either. They're really parking
brakes (and not very good ones). Given that people often
drive off without noticing the brake is engaged, I can't imagine
relying on it to stop the coach in an actual emergency.
