G'day,

The spider bite healed up well, we've got stuff organized and we were just about ready to pull out of Humble when received an email
from Chase asking me if I charged $600 to my Master Card at MZ Textiles in Villejuif, France. Twenty minutes on the phone to get
that squared away and a new credit card is on it's way to John Sharpe's home. They promised it would be there tomorrow via UPS, sure
hope it is or we're here yet another day!

At any rate here's the proposed route:

Humble - New Orleans
New Orleans - Diamond Head, MS - Help Betty & Bill Chimento
Diamond Head - Jackson, MS - Help Robin Hood - I'm not afraid of wasps, however, I do show respect for brown recluse spiders!
Jackson, MS - Gadsden, AL - Noccalula Falls, AL
Noccalula Falls, Al - Huntsville, Al - Inspect / verify Kerry Pinkerton's new engine is as nice looking as the pictures!
Huntsville, Al - Knoxville, TN - Pester Chuck & Cathy Boyd
Knoxville, TN - Louisville, KY - Visit Byron & Martha Songer
Louisville, KY - Marysville, OH - Visit with Tom & Nina Hampton, Walt & Sara Halley
Marysville, OH - Valparaiso, IN - Visit with Ken & Laurie Burton
Valparaiso, IN - Chicago, IL - Visit with Ron & Nancy Morrison
Chicago, IL - Milwaukee, WI -Visit Steve Wasser - Harley buddy for HD's 110th Anniversary Party (Aug 29 - Sep 1)
Milwaukee, WI - Palmyra, WI - Visit Steve & Laura Lynn S. and see how Smurfy's coming along
Palmyra, WI - Mackinaw City, MI - hug Lake Michigan for sights
Mackinaw City, MI - Bay City, MI - hug Lake Huron for sights
Bay City, MI - Sandusky, MI - Visit Cinnabar Engineering
Sandusky, MI - Davison, MI - Visit Dave & Mary Lenzi
Davison, MI - Elkhart, IN - Visit RV surplus stores
Elkhart, IN - Springfield, IL - Visit Lincoln's birthplace
Springfield, IL - St. Louis, MO - Take elevator to top of the Arch
St. Louis, MO - Carbondale, IL - Visit Bob (the guy that bought Michael B's inventory)
Carbondale, IL - Dexter, MO - See what Dan & Terry are up to!
Dexter, MO - Branson, MO - GMCMI Convention
Branson, MO - Quitman, TX - Visit Jim & Wanda Costello (HS workmate)
Quitman, TX - Humble, TX - Get Helen packed and on an aircraft back to Sydney

We've put a lot of visits to GMCers on this plan, we're not exactly sure of when we'll be where but we will call and let you know
when we would arrive, we'd stay a night or two, max three following Ben Franklins old adage of "Guests and fish begin to stink after
three days."

If you're not going to be home not to worry or if our visit would inconvenience you we understand.

If there's stuff to see along this route let us know.

Rob,
When are you going to be in the Bay City/Midland area. We live in Midland which is just 15 Minutes west of Bay City and have place to park with full hookup. The Great Lakers of which you are a member are having their Balloon Festival Rally the 12, 13, 14 & 15 of September. It appears that you may be coming into the area a week to 10 days earlier than the rally. If you want to stop here, let us know. Cinnabar is just over a hour and 40 minutes from the house.

Had the same thing happen to me on a Saturday night, while parked at AppliedGMC.. They got me a new card to Jim's office Monday. Then, while at home, it happened again, someone was in Ky. Charging gas and had bought something on the Internet for almost 600 bux. This time, they got me at a local gas pump. Somehow they had a reader in the pump I used.
Rob, take pictures every GMC stopover so we have lots to laugh about when you two get here.

I booked a one way trip from Spain to some place in Africa last year in my sleep from our home here in Alpine
B of A called to asked if I had done so.
I also bought some thing at the Spanish airport gift shop.
Not.
B of A backed the chargers out of our account.
Last time card was use was at a gas station?

JR,

For the past several years I have done the tour planning and it has created a bit of a family problem, I am a anally retentive,
highly structured Kraut that plans EVERYTHING! Helen on the other hand is more of a free spirit spur of the moment kinda person. I
promised her that she could plan this trip the way she would like so I have no idea when we'll be anywhere. All I can say is that we
thank you for your invitation and we'll let you know the instant we know when we'll be in your neck of the woods. It will be as far
in advance as possible.

Regards,
Rob M.

Rob,
Have you left Houston yet? Did the card come? If you want to skype and discuss your trip thru Michigan I can make some suggestion on where to stay and what to see.

Howard,
Bay City is every changing, just had the tall ships there about 2 weeks ago. The downtown has changed greatly! Did your wife every go out to the "Battle of Bands" and the State park in the 60's?

I left Michigan in 1961. I have friends and cousins there. Hopefully I will visit this year or next. my cousin Tim farms in Pinconning . I grew up in Kawkawlin. I still have a good friend in Kawkawlin and Pinconning. I went to Band day at University of Michigan four years.

JR,

The card is not scheduled to arrive until Wednesday, August 14 and we won't be able to leave until it does show up.

I had to remove Skype from my notebook as it was screwing up other programs. Would appreciate any and all tips you can give us on
Michigan. I will give you a call once we're under way and things have settled down a bit. I have a T-Mobile phone with unlimited
minutes.

Regards,
Rob M.

Rob,
Have you left Houston yet? Did the card come? If you want to skype and discuss your trip thru Michigan I can make some suggestion
on where to stay and what to see.

Rob,
I hate when that happens. We were in Florida 4 years ago and I used my card (debit card) at a store in the morning and it didn't work in the afternoon at another store. Called the credit union and was told that my card had been suspended because it may have been compromised along with about half of the other cards that they serviced. Now this is 4 days before we are scheduled to leave to come home and stop in Dothan for the GMCMI rally in 2009. Ya, ya we will have one to you over night, not a problem! To make a short story even shorter you and I know that that doesn't happen as planned. We were not stranded as your are waiting. The wife's card which is a different number on the same account still worked so we had access to the account. Had been staying at the Titusville RV park for 4 years and the girl in the mail room said she forward it on. I left a SASE and the card beat us home. It saw more miles than we did.

By all means give me a call at your earliest so I can help you both get the most out of your Michigan visit and your Surplus shopping. You can contact me off-net also.

JR

Rob,

Bob Stone (the guy that bought Michael B's inventory) doesn't use the internet. I called him last night to tell him he is on your proposed route and will mail him a hard copy today. He is looking forward to seeing you. You can reach him by phone at 618-964-9124.

Interesting. When my Debit card was compromised, Chase caught it right
away and called me and asked if I had recently tried to purchase a plasma
TV in France.

My guess is that the card made it and Rob is on the road. Should be quiet around here for a day or two now. Very Happy

I've had Card Services do the same - they call me beforwe I even realize there's a problem. I asked one of the card company security guys how they manage to chase down fraudulent purchases so quickly. It is due to good data analysis. These people have records of >billions< of transactions, and they know which were good and which were bogus. This has let them develop frighteningly accurate algorithms to determine whether a transaction is bona fide or questionable very quickly... pretty much in real time.

Interesting.  When my Debit card
was compromised, Chase caught it right
away and called me and asked if I had recently tried to
purchase a plasma
TV in France.

Awesome! Would love to see you, Rob! The wasps are dealt with, but we'd
love to have you over for coffee or out for dinner. It might be late in the
day for pulling wrenches. :) I do need to bleed the brakes, though, now
that Hupy's Bleed-O-Matic has arriverd. If wrenches get pulled there will
be video, however! :)
