This past weekend some friends and I loaded up the GMC and drove to Plymouth WI to see Grand-Am racing at Road America race park. We camped inside of turn one and had a blast. As we pulled into the park we received a lot of thumbs up! Once we were settled in our camping spot we had several people come buy to get a closer look at her. Even gave a tour of the inside to a nice German couple. They told me they saw the GMC from across track and had to come and see it. Crazy!

The Continental Tire Race was televised on Saturday and the Rolex race was televised on Sunday. My brother watched Sundays race on TV and took the below pic.

The GMC ran great for the 670 mile round trip. It was a real pleasure to drive especially after installing rebuilt control arms and steering gear from Dave Lenzi.

Super.
I always watch for gmc coaches when watching NASCAR races. It's nice when owners post here that they will be at one.

That would be my Kingsley. I just got back late last night. Had spent a week at Oshkosh prior, and a few days at Kohler-Andre State Park in between. A bit over 1,000 miles round trip, and the coach ran pretty well out and back. A few glitches on the way out. Prior to leaving, managed to split the top seam in the fresh water tank while filling it apparently too quickly. (Although being 36 years old may have had something to do with it.) Read this board and borrowed my neighbor's soldering iron and melted it back together and finished it up with some glue gun sticks, wrapped a nylon tie down strap around the center, and it held up pretty well for the two weeks. Stopped at Bontrager's on the way back yesterday, and picked up a close enough to fit with a permanent rear bed one for $65. Also, on the way out, managed to throw an alternator belt part way through Indiana. Thought it was my poorly rebuilt Autozone alternator mis-behaving, which it does occasionally, so drove it to Oshkosh on battery power. (helps to have a combiner and 2 good golf cart house batteries). The left side exhaust header gasket had a bit of a tick in it before I left, so fortunately, I had ordered a set of remflex ones from Jim K before I left. By the time I got to Oshkosh, the left side one still had a tick, but the right side one had a giant leak. So, changed the right side one at Camp Scholler and it's fine now. Still have to do the left side one. I had re-used the previous set of remflex gaskets when I replaced the head gaskets last year, and they apparently don't like to be re-used. After those few things on the way out, it didn't miss a beat on the way back for a long day yesterday, with 3 hours of prowling around Bontragers thrown in. Got one of those sexy Italian, SpinFlo cooktops there as well.

Saw a few GMC'ers at Oshkosh, but didn't notice Jon's at Road America. Was a little rainy on Sunday for the ALMS race, so watched that mostly through the windshield, and on my newly installed TV, so glad to have gotten that done before heading out. Had a guy from Bobby Rahal's BMW team stop by to check out my coach, as he has one he's restoring to original, and sounded like he had some work done on it at Syrum's. All in all, a good couple of weeks GMC'ing. A few days of catching up on house stuff, and a big Dream Cruise weekend coming up this weekend.
