Well I got the proof of concept working.
I know I can now get intermittent wipers on my GMC.

Just an Arduino mini, a servo and a piece of piano wire.
Viola!
( the laptop is only the power supply when it's running. )

Basically the servo turns on the wiper for a second, then turns them off and lets them park. If you turn them off too soon, they go real slow the whole time, too late and they go twice.
Might need to add a position switch to the wipers so I know when I can turn them off.
The system also allows full usage of the variable speed system with the flick of a switch.

Here is the intermittent wipers in action.

Clever. Now, use your servo and ardunio to provide a replacement choke for the Onan. I no longer own an Onan, so I cannot play with this line of thought. I do think a temperature sensor on the exhaust pipe would provide the input for the ardunio to use to pull the same servo type lash up. Should be of great interest to the GMC crowd.

Now all you need to do is post a parts list and some photos (with instructions in the captions) to http://www.gmcmhphotos.com/photos/

in case anyone is interested I have posted the code to github.
It's free to use, if you DO modify it, branch it and send me a pull request.

It now does variable speed, intermittent and mist ( press a button for 2 sweeps of the wipers)
Mist can be hooked up to the washer button if you want Smile

I'll post more details to the photosite soon
here's the repo;
