Anybody in So. California have a good used DuoTherm for sale?
My friend just got a coach last year ('75 Glenbrook i think?),
and there's no furnace inside, but looks like the same set-up as my 78 Eleganza II,
with the intakes and out-takes under the sink....
Ideally he'd put a good used furnace inside, and save the customization needed
for the newer ones. But recommendations on easy-install new furnaces appreciated as well.
He's open to ideas.
He's not on the list here yet, but i'm sure i'll get him on here soon :)

My personal experience with three coaches and three furnaces is that you can't beat a new furnace. Some mods are necessary but you'll have all the help you need here on the forum. If you stick in a used furnace it may or may not work if if it does work, it will only work until it gets real cold. Then it will quit working on a Friday night of a three day holiday weekend (happened to me three years ago Christmas weekend, Friday at sunset). It's Murphy's law. Spend the money on a new Suburban furnace and forget it.
I don't mean to be harsh here but if your friend cannot afford a new furnace he should not own a GMC because if it's not the furnace, it's the a/c unit or the hot water heater or the air compressor or a leaking holding tank or something. We love our coaches but we have to throw money at them regularly. If your friend has the money, just buy a new Suburban and we'll help him get it in and working.
One more suggestion: Most of our coaches have at least one a/c unit and most of these units are Duo-Therm which have an optional heating coil that is available, inexpensive and easy to install. It will not replace a furnace but it will do the job on cool days and nights. Two a/c units with heater strips will help even more, save on propane and do the job until it gets cold, cold. Good luck.
