G'day,

Creating this thread for Ron 77.

Sorry to hijack a thread, but I am working with an iPad and can't figure any other way. I am at Bonneville and the GMC motorhome ran
and got a top speed of 108 and change. I don't know if that's a record, but it's a very good average. Looks good too, it's all
good!!!

Ron Johnson

Regards,
Rob M.

Some tiny, Fiat-powered, aerodynamic Euro thing set the MH record at
128mph. The LSR website says they're shooting for 140mph.

That's really fast for something with such a fat face...

108 is the old GMC record, I think...

Well our sponsored GMC ran the short track 2 mile with 8mph side wind.
Tomorrow they will let them run the long track.
Britt Palmer said it was still accelerating when it went over the end line.
He did trial runs using the 3.70 with limited slip, but that engine is
capable of 6,000rpm +
Today they ran the 3.07 with limited slip.
Hopefully there will be no wind in the morning.
They are going for 130-140.
With the Quadra Bag and the rear stabilizer bars Brit said it handled very
well.
Our sponsor stickers at the Generator /LPG doors.
At first he had us as an only sponsor, but has gained more.

The old record set by a GMC was around 105mph.

G'day,

As posted on the Coop Website under Land Speed Record:

FRESH OFF THE WIRE: Yesterday, September 16, 2006, The Dyno Sources land speed record coach powered with a 454 (not a 455) for the
class "A" motorhome set a record of 102.76 MPH at Bonneville. I'd like to congratulate Jim Rosenburgh on this and will post more
particulars as I get them.

Regards,
Rob M.

I have to wonder why they would use a stupid Chevrolet motor in this day and age when the Cad proper has the Speed record for gasoline from the Shell on the corner at 419 mph. Some people just don't really think things through.Huh?

Because the company that used the 454 were building a kit for the GMC motorhome. They sold a few but then went out of business.

That is a lot of roll cage for 102mph.

But do it have a functioning toilet and generator?

Britt Palmer has put in lots of time funds and consulted with people that
are known in the business.
When he invited me for a meeting, there were several big name people that
advised on his program.
This Chevy is a production High performance engine out of a car and Dennis
the owner of the shop that produce special effects units for the movie co.
This morning they ran the short track 115mph.
They are scheduled to run on the long track later.
Wind resistance is a killer, and the track surface of sand /salt is not
great.
Our limited Slip differential helping a lot, but no substitute for 4 tire
pushing like on a SOB.

We sent him some furnishings.

This makes for good reading. Wish I was there. If you ever get your coach
to where it's trustable and track worthy, I'd love to run a measured mile
in it.
Not answering the phone today Jim?

Steve,
I answer phones, but on weekend the phone only rings few times then goes to
answering.
Most leave a message , then I return call.
Allen left me a message, called him back, so I'll be sending you a carb.
forgot to ask if it was a 455/403.
Call me .

Monday AM they just did 120mph on the short track.
Hopefully they will be able to run the long track before the wind kicks up.

It's just my twisted sense of humor but I think it would be cooler if it looked more like a motorhome and less like somehting from ThunderDome.

Maybe some curtains in the windows, original palm Beach color scheme and some bumber stickers "This car climbed Mount Washintgon"

Hi Guys,

I just donated $50 to the CMTA. I know there are a lot of you GMC Guys out
there with a lot more money than me and since the entire reason Britt is
doing this AND WITH A GMC is to raise awareness and donations for the CMTA.
Please make a donation and show what the GMC community as a whole can do to
help. The donation meter only showed $1200 so far. Please make a donation
and don't be embarrassed to post on the net that you did.

Marsh (who rarely post now days) Wilkes
