This is for the Craiglist entry on gmcmotorhomesforsale.
Checked into this deal, and found the 'Seller', who is 'out-of town', wants to use a separate service to hold the money before shipping vehicle.
OLS site was put up only 2 weeks ago and is tied to Bucharest,
Offices listed in Chicago (900 North Michigan Ave., no less) and Houston don't exist.
Company not listed with Illinois Secretary of State, either.
Take Care!!

Don't forget the incident when I was selling our 40' pusher in '06: After
the eBay auction closed, with no bids near my reserve price, a fellow in
Wisconsin received a "Second Chance" offer through a broker in England. He
sent a $7500 deposit to Pietro Vincente in Pisa, Italy -- for MY coach!

Guess what he got out of the whole thing!

BEWARE OF THE INTERNET!

Ken H.

yes beware of the internet . but do not be scared of it . i have just bought a coach sight unseen . i am in Australia and the seller is in Illinois. i have used the internet to research these people i have made phone calls to 3rd parties to verify information and we are very happy with our transaction . the internet is a great tool for finding out information . use it to satisfy yourself that the deal and people are real. if we lose trust it makes it very hard for people in other places both in the states and overseas to enjoy this hobby.

G'day,

Working overseas for Hamilton Standard for twenty five years plus I learned that setting up a Letter of Credit to pay for something
in a foreign country is a 100% safe method of paying.

Here's a link to the Wikipedia entry that explains how they work:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Letter_of_credit

Hamilton Standard required airlines with no credit history with HS to set them up all the time; they specified that they had to be
IRREVOCABLE LETTERS of CREDIT!

Regards,
Rob M.

Really, buying a 40 year old motorhome, pumping butane under the hood, replacing the factory brakes and front supension with an open-source system developed by a mostly non-profit group of old mechanics, setting out across the country with your family in this experiment and trusting the same group old mechanincs will back you up should anything go wrong, --THat is perfectly safe and reasonable.

But you better be real careful buying things from strangers on the Internet.

-- Like anything else, education and experience reduces but does not eliminate risk.

Thats what Im talking about trust in your fellow man. Anything that goes wrong will just add to the adventure. I would have no hesitation driving a 40 year old vehicle across australia Cant be much different over there.
