Ok, was driving the old girl the other week and starting noticing a little lifter sound so I'm back at doing the exhaust gasket again, third time over 10 years. I'm wondering what would take care of this once and for all. I've read good things about the copper gaskets and then I've also read about what Jim K has for this. Which way to go guys....my goal hopfully if I do this right is not to have to deal with it anymore, or at least for awhile.

Tom,

When I bought my coach, it had bad exhaust manifold gaskets (PO was very hard of hearing and probably didn't notice). I contacted Dave Lenzi and bought a pair of his copper embossed gaskets. They came with detailed instructions and thick lock washers. I took the manifolds off and had them resurfaced. I used Fel-Pro donuts and all new hardware. I installed them per Dave's instructions including re-torquing. 20,000+ miles later, NO leaks.

Jim K also sells them.

Tom,
I used (8 yrs ago) Remflex before either Jim's started listing them, I can attest to their superior sealing/lasting properties.
I had a blowout within the first 6 months of owning my GMC, I had the manifold surfaced and installed the Remflex, now some 8+ years later, never a problem.
read here about them:
http://catalog.remflex.com/category_s/36.htm

here's the link to Jim K's, http://www.appliedgmc.com/prod.itml/icOid/670 also Jim B's in Orlando sells them, or you can get direct, but you probably need some other GMC part and can reduce the shipping costs by ordering several parts making the shipping cost per part less.
I bet you will be happy with them, I am.

PS I also screwed up installing the driver side and got the gasket on the outside of the dipstick and didn't realize it until I was tightening down and put a dent in the gasket, worrying if it would seal, I called to check and they sent replacement free of charge. Can't beat that.
